Spanish Black Belt Expands Tutoring to Denver Area

DENVER, CO, Sept. 7, 2007—The Washington, D.C. based Spanish language tutoring company Spanish Black Belt initiated its newest branch this week in the Denver metropolitan area, offering its renowned services to an area with one of the fastest growing Latino populations in the United States. Classes officially kicked off Sept. 2, 2007, in Lakewood, Cherry Creek and the downtown core. “I am very excited about it because this is an area with a large Latino population,” said Roblero, noting that the Denver area is about 30 percent Latino. “This has created a general interest within the locals in learning Spanish as a second language.”

According to Roblero, Spanish Black Belt’s timing as far as opening a branch in Denver could not have been better. “The Latino population has grown 35 percent in the last five years, and more professionals and companies are very interested in learning the language so that they are able to target the Hispanic segment,” he said. “Having bilingual employees could be their key to success.”

But unlike most businesses, Spanish Black Belt’s emergence in the Denver area did not result from a strategy to build profits. Rather, it was came about from the company’s belief in building and maintaining lasting relationships with its employees. Spanish Black Belt loves its employees, and so when the company’s human resources director, Andres Roblero, gave CEO and Founder Nicolas Canales notice that he would be relocating to Denver for personal reasons in August, 2007, Canales was eager to keep him in the Spanish Black Belt family.

“Really, we want every tutor who has to relocate to another city within the U.S. to take the Spanish Black Belt ‘seed’ with them,’ Canales said earlier this week. “That’s easier than remotely training people from those cities. We train people here in our headquarters, and then when they move on they take the company values with them.”
Canales said that Roblero’s decision to stay on board has been extremely beneficial for the company. Because of his extensive experience in the human resources department, Roblero has been in charge of hiring and training an outstanding new team of Denver locals who are native Spanish speakers.

Spanish Black Belt, a member of the Better Business Bureau, is a Spanish language institute specializing in highly effective tutoring programs that rapidly develop language skills and cultural background for success in the business environment, academia, travel and entertainment.
