Nicolas

Nicolas, a native Spanish speaker from Peru and founder of Spanish Black Belt, acquired a strong passion for tutoring since his early days in high school. Back then he tutored Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics to other students his age. Nicolas carries a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Vanderbilt University. Besides his full time responsibilities as General Manager, he continues to tutor to stay close to the needs of our students.

Mely

Mely, a native Spanish speaker from Peru, works for Spanish Black Belt as a Spanish Instructor with both adults and kids. Mely holds a BA in Education from Universidad Nacional de San Agustin and a Diplomado in Tutorial Education from Universidad Catolica San Pablo in Arequipa, Peru, and has extensive experience as a Spanish teacher. She has taught at the University of San Agustin Language Center, the Jean Paul Sartre Elementary School, the Alexander Fleming High School and the Maria Montessori Institute in Peru.

Mariella

Mariella, a fully bilingual native Spanish speaker from Peru, holds a BA in Education from Universidad Federico Villarreal in Lima, Peru.

Prior to coming to the US, Mariella accumulated over 5 years of professional experience teaching Spanish at elementary and high schools and a university in Peru. Once in the US, Mariella worked as a Spanish teacher at the Claremont Immersion Elementary School in Arlington and at the George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. She later joined Spanish Black Belt as a part-time tutor and now lives in the Baltimore area.

In her free time, Mariella enjoys cooking peruvian dishes, riding bicycle, and listening to music.

Natalia

Natalia, a native Spanish speaker from Peru, works for Spanish Black Belt as a Spanish Instructor with both adults and kids. She holds a Certificate of Translation and Interpretation from English Language Academy in Lima, Peru.

Prior roles Natalia adopted while working in the corporate world include Bilingual Administrative Assistant, Interpreter and Translator, and Bilingual Customer Service Representative.

In her free time, Natalia enjoys singing Karaoke, swimming and spending time with her family.

Paola

Paola, a native Spanish speaker from Chile, tutors adults, teens and kids. Prior to joining Spanish Black Belt Paola worked during several years as Teacher Assistant for Playa Ancha University in Valparaiso, Chile, Journalist/TV reporter for Puntangeles TV and La Hora newspaper, and Spanish editor for Cachai Chile, a Chilean bilingual travel Magazine.

Paola holds a BA in Communications and a MA in Journalism from Universidad de Playa Ancha. In her free time, Paola enjoys outdoor sports and spending time with her friends in Denver CO.

Juan Antonio

Juan Antonio, a native Spanish speaker from Mexico, tutors adults and organizations. Prior to joining Spanish Black Belt Juan Antonio worked as co-founder and managing director for 100% Mexico in Washington DC, a mexican franchise, and as outreach worker and case management specialist for the Alexandria Health Department and the Hopkins House Association.

In his free time, Juan Antonio enjoys outdoor sports, going out dancing, and spending time with his friends in Washington DC.

Joao

Joao, a native Spanish speaker from Chile, tutors adults, teens, kids and organizations. His experience includes working as freelance Spanish tutor, simultaneous interpreter, and communications coordinator.

Joao holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Universidad de Artes y Ciencias Sociales in Chile. In his free time, Joao enjoys cycling, listening to music, and spending time with his family and friends.

Pilar

Pilar, a native Spanish speaker from Spain, tutors adults and organizations. Her experience includes teaching Spanish at the high school level, tutoring adult professionals for over 15 years, and doing strategic planning and M&A consulting for Fortune 500 companies.

Pilar holds a Masters Degree in Political Science from University of Hawaii. In her free time, Pilar enjoys cooking and being outdoors.

Cinthya

Cinthya, a fully bilingual Spanish speaker from Chile, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from George Mason University. Cinthya lived in four countries in Central and South America throughout her childhood and has gathered most of her pre-college education in bilingual schools.

Prior to joining Spanish Black Belt, Cinthya worked as Resident Assistant for the Kirov Academy of Ballet caring for and counseling pre-professional ballet students from 11 to 18 years old. She also worked for 5 years as a freelance ABA Therapist/Nanny and for 2 years as nurse aid for children under 2 years old. Cinthya also took part of Operation Smile acting as translator in operating rooms and worked as bilingual interviewer for a research project.

Cinthya was a member of the Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honors Society and was granted the Aliza Kolker Service Scholarship and Research award. She teaches adults, teens and kids.

Sonia

Sonia, a fully bilingual Spanish speaker from Peru, holds a Business Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Universidad Ricardo Palma and a professional designation in Economics from the Lima School of Economics in Lima, Peru; Pre-MBA certification in Contemporary American Business from Baruch College, the City of New York, and completion of English as a Second Language from Zoni Language Center in New York City.

Prior to joining Spanish Black Belt, Sonia worked in Treasury and Financial Advisory positions with Banco Industrial de Venezuela in New York City, Washington Mutual Bank, and Banco Santander Central Hispano and Banco del Progreso in Lima, Peru.

Her tutoring experience includes teaching at the college level. Sonia tutors adults, individuals and organizations, teens and kids.

Susana

Susana, a fully bilingual Spanish speaker from the Dominican Republic, holds a Bachelor of Law from PUCMM in Santiago, Dominican Republic and is certified as court interpreter and translator. Susana is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Education at Hunter College in New York.

Prior to joining Spanish Black Belt, Susana worked as Summer-Winter camp counselor, childcare and activities assistant, and Spanish and English languages teacher.

Rosa

Rosa, a fully bilingual native Spanish speaker from Mexico, holds a BA in English Translation from Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Veracruz; and a Master Degree in Education from Universidad Eurohispanoamericana in Xalapa, Veracruz.

Prior to coming to the US, Rosa has accumulated over 4 years of professional experience helping students from different ages (kids, teenagers and adults). She has also tutored students at an Immersion program for School for Foreign Students from Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Mexico. In addition, she has taught to different professionals such as engineers, lawyers, musicians, doctors, and more.

She later joined Spanish Black Belt as a part-time tutor and now lives in the Northern Virginia area.
